    Electrical Maintenance Supervisor

    Job Description

    • A leading water treatment company is looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Supervisor with strong experience in electrical maintenance, condition monitoring, maintenance planning, and supervising maintenance teams to join their team in Witbank. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organising and executing electrical and condition monitoring maintenance activities, providing technical supervision, and supporting the maintenance and operation of an industrial water treatment plant.

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the effective application of and adherence to the maintenance management system and ensure assets are clearly marked and controlled through the asset register.
    • Supervise, schedule and coordinate electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and condition monitoring maintenance teams.
    • Oversee preventive, corrective and condition-based predictive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.
    • Ensure maintenance activities, including vibration analysis, IR scanning and equipment performance evaluations, are completed, reported, recorded, actioned and closed out.
    • Monitor and submit detailed monthly reports on equipment condition, preventive and corrective maintenance, completed and outstanding work, and relevant contractual requirements.
    • Ensure adherence to established communication lines and reporting requirements.
    • Apply effective human resource principles, administration and controls to meet performance objectives.
    • Ensure the prompt completion and submission of preventive maintenance schedules, job cards, timesheets and relevant departmental documentation.
    • Ensure safety and housekeeping standards comply with applicable health and safety legislation and ISO system requirements.
    • Ensure approved and contractual stock levels are maintained and controlled.
    • Maintain a high standard of monitoring and reporting on electro-mechanical plant conditions.
    • Assist with equipment specifications, sourcing, quality control, pricing, tendering and the implementation of new electrical, mechanical and civil installations.
    • Manage breakdowns and prioritise maintenance activities promptly.
    • Supervise, manage, train and coordinate the maintenance team.
    • Manage maintenance stores and inventory while ensuring appropriate storage and stock control.
    • Apply Root Cause Analysis methods and facilitate FMECA where required.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function.

    Requirements:

    • N4 qualification as a Millwright or Electrician, with a recognised electrical apprenticeship and Section 13 Trade Test.
    • Medium Voltage qualification and MV switching experience is mandatory.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Maintenance Supervisor.
    • Own reliable transport and willingness to travel to support other sites within the region where required.
    • Experience in the maintenance and operations of industrial water treatment plants.
    • Proven experience in applying and controlling maintenance management systems.
    • Strong electrical background with the ability to accurately analyse and troubleshoot faults and provide technical support and guidance to artisans.
    • Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and Mine Health and Safety legislation, regulations and practices.
    • Experience in applying Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
    • Knowledge of operational and safety procedures relating to maintenance activities, electrical equipment and MV switching.
    • Relevant project execution experience.
    • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and SharePoint.
    • Strong organisational, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Effective performance management skills and a sound understanding of human resource systems and procedures.
    • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet tight deadlines and multitask.
    • Ability to work independently and proactively as part of a team.
    • Strong time management skills and a solution- and improvement-focused mindset.
    • Medically fit to work in an industrial plant environment, including exposure to noise, vibration, dust, fumes, hazardous materials and varying weather conditions.
    • Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
    • Physically capable of performing the duties required in an industrial maintenance environment.
    • Willingness to perform standby duties after hours and work weekends.
