The purpose of the Electrician will be to be responsible for the repairs, maintenance and installation of electrical equipment onsite with the responsibility and accountability of ensuring the continuous operation of all equipment and electrical installations thereby ensuring the effectiveness of the Department’s Maintenance system.
Responsibilities:
Tests, troubleshoots, performs Route Cause Analysis, and replaces malfunctioning transformers, electrical motors, lighting fixtures and circuits, and faulty electrical/electronic components with the use of electrical handheld meters and equipment-specific schematics to correct faults.
Assist other team members in troubleshooting, with the goal to minimize equipment downtime that interrupts production.
Test motors to determine if it needs replacement and replace electrical motor bearings and wires electric motors.
Calibrate instruments and control valves
Plans layout of and installation of wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings, with adherence to the National Electric Code.
Documenting changes or modifications, which may result in changing parameters, circuits, components, configuration, or orientation of an electrical/electronic device for future reference by self and others.
Communicates problems or changes in the department to team lead and appropriate personnel
Performs 5S visual management and proactive plant/workspace walkabouts, to identify threats
Requirements
Minimum requirement is a Electrical Red Seal (Trade Test), with minimum 3-years’ experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment within a FMCG Industry, preferably within the Food Industry
Preference will be given to candidates with a nated N4 – N6 qualification
Working knowledge of PLC hardware and 480V circuits
Understanding and experience in instrument calibration (i.e. level, pressure, flow transmitters, control valves); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Familiarity with the use of a structured CMMS, such as SAP PM.
Sound organizational skills in completing prioritized work activities
Ability to program Allen Bradley Variable Frequency Drives (advantageous)
Experience with conveyor systems, pumps, and packaging equipment (advantageous)
Medically fit to work in cold and stressful environment and willing to work shifts as and when required including over weekends
