Electrician: Utilities and Services at AVI Limited

An exciting opportunity exists for an Electrician: Utilities and Services at NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED NBL Rosslyn Snacks.  The Utilities Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment related to utility services such as boiler, water, electricity, and sewage. This role ensures that all electrical utility infrastructure operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Job Specification:

Key Performance Areas:

• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, generators, meters, and other equipment associated with utility services.
• Maintain and service electrical systems for utility plants, substations, lights and distribution networks.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance reliability.
• Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and outages.
• Interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, local codes, and regulations during all electrical work. (SANS)
• Collaborate with other utility workers and engineers to support system upgrades and new installations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Operate and maintain electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
• Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safety during maintenance and repair.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:                                                                   

• Have at least 5 years’ post apprenticeship experience in a similar role within the FMCG environment
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance and repair, preferably in utility or FMCG
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and safety practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications:

• Must be a qualified electrician with a recognized trade test (red seal) Must have a minimum theoretical qualification of N4

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to interpret and understand complex electrical drawings
• Above average fault finding techniques
• Must be committed to continuous improvement
• Knowledge of HACCP, QMS and GMP is a prerequisite
