Engineer, Sales Support at Valmet

Valmet is currently seeking an Engineer, Sales Support for our Johannesburg office. Reporting directly to the Regional Sales Manager in Durban, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical sales support for our product portfolio, primarily encompassing various types of valves, actuators, positioners, and limit switches. Your primary focus will be on serving customers and agents in the South African JHB territory, as well as Sub-Saharan Africa, facilitating successful business development and achieving targeted market positions and sales in the area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting technical reviews of inquiry documents and preparing quotations for customers, ensuring alignment with their technical requirements, commercial conditions, and delivery timelines.
• Handling post-quotation technical queries and modifications.
• Proficiently interpreting P&ID diagrams and customer specifications/MR documents.
• Sizing and selection of control and on-off valves.
• Pricing products using modern tools.
• Preparing installed base reports and SPIR documentation in collaboration with the sales office.
• Proposing spare part agreements.
• Processing of Quotations and Orders to various supply centers using CRM tools(Sales Force & Tacton).
• Offering general technical support to customers and agents.
• Managing order expediting and document flow.
• Handling the claims process.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a technical diploma.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of ERP systems.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong team spirit to foster collaboration with colleagues from various departments and external customers and agents.
• A motivated, proactive, and confident approach to work.
• Basic knowledge of industrial valves, actuators, and pumps.
• Familiarity with the mining and/or oil and gas and pulp & paper sector.
• Willingness to travel, including internationally if required.
• Exposure to plant/operations processes.
• Knowledge of an additional South African language will be a valuable advantage.
