Engineer, Small Engineering Works - Lephalale at Exxaro Resources

PURPOSE:

• To ensure that general, non-production specific Engineering projects (such as roof repairs, fences, etc) are appropriately scoped, resourced and executed, including contractor and project management.
• To control and coordinate Line activities according to planned schedule.
• To quality assure that work is done to specification and completed as agreed

Minimum Requirements    
QUALIFICATIONS:

• B Eng (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum and/or)
• B Tech Engineering (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate Project Management (Recommended/Desirable)
• Certificate First Line Management (Recommended/Desirable)

EXPERIENCE: 

• 5 years Relevant Experience in Small Engineering Works and Maintenance; Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment; Procurement, Project Engineering, Contract, Project Management (Essential/Minimum)    
• Operational

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)
• Engineering Council of SA (Candidate) (Recommended/Desirable)

Duties & Responsibilities

Compliance, Governance and Assurance    

• Develop, maintain and improve safe operational and engineering standards and continuously review specifications and schedules
• Ensure equipment integrity is maintained according to safety standards
• Maintain National Occupational Safety Association (NOSA) and related systems, aligned with the Company’s safety standards, Occupational Health, Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA, Safety and Environment registers, International Organisational Standards (ISO) 14000; 9000 and 18001 systems
• Manage and control quality of raw materials and products
• Conduct timeous investigation of incidents and ensure adequate remedial action is implemented
• Execute and drive safety programs
• Ensure effective risk management by identifying hazardous activities and mitigation measures on a continuous basis
• Ensure Business Units (BU) compliance to all applicable legislation

Contract Management  

• Responsible for end-to-end optimisation of small engineering works contracts
• Specify project objectives and scope and plans including delineation of scope, budgeting, scheduling and setting performance requirements
• Ensure signed contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLA's) with relevant service providers are communicated to relevant parties
• Ensure contract close-out, extension or renewal

Customer and Client Relationship Management  

• Provide expert technical support and direction to project teams and business units
• Identify needs and support line management with technical issues
