As a Stormwater Engineer in our Water Resources team, you will provide technical and specialist analysis and design support in the area of stormwater drainage, hydrology and flood management for a wide range of infrastructure projects including road, rail and urban development in Africa and around the world.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake:
Hydrological analysis of storm rainfall
Hydrological and hydraulic analysis of catchment runoff and watercourses
Hydraulic modelling and design of stormwater reticulation systems, culverts, scour protection and other flood control structures
Sustainable urban drainage system design
Preparation of project specifications, bill of quantities and tender documentation
Stormwater master planning and flood risk assessments
Qualifications
BSc in civil engineering, or equivalent
Two to six years' experience in a similar role - essential
Experience in hydrological studies, hydraulic analysis and design of stormwater drainage infrastructure such as culverts and bridges - advantageous
Experience in the design of stormwater reticulation systems, culverts, erosion protection, flood control structures and runoff treatment and management devices – advantageous
Knowledge of detailed road drainage design and multi-disciplinary interfaces - advantageous;
Experience in the use of drainage analysis and associated design software technology applications (e.g. HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, PCSWMM, Autocad, Civil 3D, GIS etc.) - highly advantageous
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
