Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 10/Standard 8 Technical (Essential/Minimum)
• AET Level 4 (Essential/Minimum)
• 6-12 months of relevant job-specific experience with competency declaration (Essential/Minimum)
• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)
• Ability to conduct inspections to ensure safe operations and prevent malfunctions
• Proficiency in assisting artisans with equipment inspection and basic machine/breakdown repairs
• Understanding of health and safety practices with the ability to rectify/report hazardous situations
• Effective communication skills to support Supervisors/Foreman and other mine personnel
• Ability to maintain clean and organised tools and equipment

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Maintain tools by ensuring they are clean and properly stored in the toolbox as directed by the artisan.
• Assist artisans with equipment inspections and verify equipment and instruments are in proper condition before use.
• Conduct inspections to prevent blockages, stoppages, defects, malfunctions, and breakages in equipment operations.
• Adhere to maintenance, repair, and overhaul procedures as instructed by the artisan and attend to basic equipment operations.
• Support basic machine and breakdown repairs, including dismantling and examining parts under supervision according to specifications.
• Perform daily greasing of equipment and assist with unblocking equipment and off-loading conveyors.
• Participate in start-up and shutdown processes within the relevant working area.
• Adhere to all health and safety practices, ensuring good housekeeping and using personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Communicate effectively and provide support to Supervisors/Foremen and related mine personnel with ad hoc responsibilities.
• Report defects immediately and address unsafe practices and potential hazards by rectifying or reporting them to superiors.
