    Environment, Health and Safety Manager

    Candidate background

    • Degree in Engineering or Science, advanced Degree or MBA is preferred
    • 7+ years in the HSE space in industries with a heavy focus on safety processes (aerospace, mining, oil & gas, chemicals)
    • Ability to effectively communicate and work with a variety of personnel from senior management to analysts with sensitivity towards cultural and political differences
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Strong time management, planning, and organizational skills and be highly self-motivated and self-organized
    • Strong computer experience and database administration and management skills (Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI are preferred)

    Purpose and responsibilities 

    Reporting to the Safety Director and responsible for all of Partners in Performance safety related activities including procedures, tools and techniques to ensuring the implementation and strict observance of Partners in Performance global HSE regulations, policies and standards, aiming to zero accidents, raising concerns and providing guidance and coaching related to HSE issues

    • Undertake an active HSE leadership role, being a role model and helping the firm achieve safe working outcomes
    • Enforce health and safety regulations and ensure compliance with the company’s HSE standards while promoting safe work practices
    • Develop and implement HSE guidelines/processes/procedures and ensure they are followed
    • Adjust and update Partners in Performance Safety Management System where required
    • Establish and maintain HSE KPIs and report their progress
    • Collect and report on HSE incidents and direct investigations of any safety incident and report the conclusions, ensuring all incidents’ root causes are identified, and corrective actions are implemented to reduce recurrence
    • Conduct random engagement safety tours, aligned with Directors and communicate HSE concerns
    • Enforce the use of HSE checklist and risk assessments at the beginning of every engagement and ensure proper controls are in place for key risks
    • Communicate HSE performance expectations for the wider company and provide guidance and coaching to Consultant and Global Services teams
    • Serve as an internal expert to keep current on safety trends and share best practices within PiP
    • Ensure necessary safety training is delivered/undertaken, ensuring a competency method evaluation is in place
    • Establish and manage an emergency response plan, where required
    • Maintain and update relationship with international medical and security provider
    • Provide assistance with travel related incidents, including working with Partners in Performance insurance provider
    • Assist with the review, adjustment and approval of new safety intellectual property (IP) developed and maintain current library updated and relevant
    • Build, develop, implement and support safety, health and wellbeing campaigns (e.g. vaccination, mental health)

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to coach, influence and build trust with directors/principals, and achieve results through driving for a result
    • Strong communication skills, including the ability to construct compelling arguments supported by the right facts
    • Show an ability to influence and multitask
    • Demonstrated alignment with Partners in Performance values

    • Total Recordable Incident Frequency and Incident Rates
    • Number of Reported Hazards, Incidents and Accidents
    • Engagement safety shares completed globally
    • Engagement HSE checklist and risk assessments completed globally
    • Training completion rate

    Other requirements

    • Right to work in South Africa is required and candidates need to have a preparedness to travel, including internationally
