Environmental Scientist at SRK Consulting

Job Description:

The candidate will provide support and leadership in the field of environmental assessment, sustainable development and a range of other environmental management fields.  The candidate should have experience in managing Basic Assessments and/or ESIAs in South Africa. Experience in an allied specialist sub-discipline (e.g. biodiversity, socio-economic assessment, air quality, climate change) will be an advantage.

Core Functions:

• Manage Basic Assessments and/or provide support on EIAs.
• Compile proposals and reports.
• Coordinate project schedules.
• Manage budgets.
• Appoint and manage specialists.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement.

Competencies:

• Excellent knowledge and application of environmental legislation.
• Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment.
• Committed team player.
• Excellent reporting and presentation skills – additional languages would be advantageous.
• Analytical and integrative skills across diverse disciplines and sectors.

Qualifications:
Degree in Environmental Management (Honours or higher) or other relevant degree.

• Registered EAP or Pr.Sci.Nat.
• Approximately 3 -7 years experience.
• Valid driverâs licence and own transport.
• Willingness to travel within South Africa.
