    Environmental Specialist x1 Position

    KEY REQUIREMENTS:

    • Advanced degree in Environmental Economics, Sustainability, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in conducting environmental impact assessments and life cycle analyses.
    • Familiarity with electoral processes and voting technologies is preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical software.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The scope of work and expectations of the Environmental Economist will include the following:
    • Conducting rigorous environmental analyses to identify the impacts of aspects of the electoral cycle in South Africa.
    • Collaborating with electoral authorities and stakeholders to gather data and insights on current voting practices.
    • Developing innovative economic models to assess the costs and benefits of transitioning to more environmentally friendly electoral practices.
    • Providing evidence-based recommendations and guidelines to policymakers and electoral management bodies on sustainable voting practices.
    • Making suggestions of how best to engage with the public to raise awareness about the environmental implications of electoral systems.
    • Communicating regularly and effectively with the project team.
