    Executive Office Senior Manager in the office of the CEO - Chief of Staff

    Job Description

    Function:

    The role of the Chief of Staff is both managerial and advisory so as to increase the bandwidth and velocity of the CEO in such a way as to concentrate her time, effort, and priorities on strategic initiatives.

    The ideal candidate will have the acumen to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term projects with the urgency of immediate operational demands.

    He/she must also have the demonstrated ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as a liaison between the CEO and other constituencies, both internal and external. The Chief of Staff will also be expected to support the deputy CEO in selected functions, and to work with the COO to facilitate the EXCO reporting process. Some travelling can be expected, mostly within the African continent.

    While the Chief of Staff will not have direct reports he/she must exhibit the skills to collaborate with others and be able to achieve actionable results through others.  He/she must have the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships and the capability to interact within all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will also be able to work effectively in a fast paced and project-driven environment with constantly changing demands. You will require energy, excellent engagement skills and a passion for growing Deloitte Africa.

    Duties & Responsibilities Administration

    • Support the CEO in planning, directing, managing and coordinating day-to-day business activities – this would be associated with ad-hoc analysis and decision support. 

    • Coordinate selected business activities required of the CEO

    • Prepare agendas, briefings, and preparation materials for meetings and events.

    • Prepare minutes and actions for Exco.

    • Work closely with other staff to gather agenda items, briefing notes, and other materials, as needed.

    • Coordinate with external event organizers with logistics, and communicate needs on behalf of the CEO

    • Be a point of contact to the Office of the CEO.

    • Speech writing 

     

    Content Development

    • Prioritise understanding the firm’s strategy and offerings across the service lines.

    • Develop content for the CEO report back to Exco, the Board, the Partner/Director roadshows, the Leadership Summit, as well as various business speeches & presentations (some for external engagement purposes) 

    • Stay abreast of the developments within and outside the firm to be able to provide the right level of input in various forums.

     

    Strategic Initiatives:

    • Executive project oversight on selected project – acts on the authority of the office of the CEO to oversee strategic projects

    • Coordinating projects that involve working with all levels of internal management and staff.

    Stakeholder interactions and communications

    • Coordinate with the relevant functions on internal and external communications issued from the Office of the CEO

    • Interacting with the Global office, local and Africa wide committees, and other constituencies on behalf of the CEO.

    Governance

    • Assist the COO in coordinating Exco meetings including the necessary governance processes.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Senior Manager within the Deloitte Africa firm.

    • Highest level of integrity, confidentiality, self-awareness, and a desire to excel.

    • Exceptional emotional intelligence and the ability to receive and provide constructive feedback.

    • Have the ability to interpret information for strategic relevance and impact, based on detailed analysis and review.

    • Experience in managing technical project work is desired.

    • Organization Design and Process Design experience is an advantage.

    • You should be able to run your own projects on a day to day basis under limited supervision.

    • Self-starter who is capable of managing multiple projects.

    • Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, extremely efficient, flexible, organized and resourceful.

    • Entrepreneurial, business acumen, data analysis, strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.

    • Ability to form good working relationships and to interact with Executives/Senior management and managers aligned to the Office of the CEO (e.g. Exco and Board members).

    • Good facilitation, communications, writing and presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint).

    • Willingness and ability to travel
