Key Competency Requirements

• 3-year Biomedical Technology diploma/4-year Medical Laboratory Scientist degree in Microbiology
• Current registration with the HPCSA in Microbiology
• Computer literate with Skylims knowledge is advantageous
• Knowledge/understanding of the stock management system
• Must have 3-7 years of Microbiology experience post HPCSA registration.
• Experience in technical procedure development and implementation.
• Differential count proficiency
• Experience with managing queries for internal/external clients.
• Experience in maintaining QA Systems
• Client-focused with strong interpersonal relations
• Excellent attention to detail
• Advanced problem-solving ability
• Effective verbal and electronic communication skills
• Ability to oversee and train junior staff and students
• Ability to work under pressure and display resilience and tenacity in challenging situations
• Result-orientated
• Emotional intelligence
• Must be fluent in English with an understanding of Afrikaans
• Must be prepared to work both day and night shifts, weekends & public holidays
• Must have an acceptable track record/performance record with regard to the technical and behavioural competencies required to perform in this position
