• Our client is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
• Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts, merchant settlement accounts, and key balance sheet items.
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and reports (e.g., tax returns, VAT, FCA submissions).
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and expense classification, particularly around transaction-based income.
• Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Maintain and develop internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure SOX or regulatory compliance where applicable.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Contribute to ad-hoc financial projects, system implementations, or business case analysis.

Qualifications and requirements:

• BCom degree
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role

OR

• BCom degree 
• Completed articles
• 2+ years of post-articles experience in a similar role
