Financial Accountant - Hard Products at Volvo Group

Role Description

• Ensure that financial accounting reporting is done within required deadlines and in full compliance with set standards of quality
• Ensure compliance with local legislation and accounting standards
• Continuously undertake checks and balances to ensure the optimal integrity of the accounting systems and processes
• Provide reconciliations and information as part of the Audit process
• Provide specialist advice, and consult with internal clients to support them in reaching their business objectives and ensure optimal compliance
• Implement changes in a timeous, correct manner and at the right level of quality
• Identify any gaps that may exist in processes, policies and systems and take remedial action to correct such
• Identify risk factors, ensure that the relevant stakeholders are made aware thereof and corrective actions taken to mitigate against risks to the business
• Results interpretation, analysis, verification and reporting for various accounts within trial balance
• Analytical review of monthly VAT transactions and reporting as per legislation
   

Inventory Responsibilities (Hard Products - Vehicle Inventory)

• Ensure proper reconciliation of all inventory.
• Responsible for the effective and efficient valuation of stock by maintaining and updating, evaluating records. Propose and implement corrections, investigate system errors. (To ensure sufficient/accurate provisions for obsolescence, NRV etc.)
• Responsible to ensure the effective and efficient control and accounting of stock by ensuring that stock taking takes place as per company policy. Identify and report on variances and implement corrective measures.
• Responsible to ensure that all stock movements are accurate and duly authorised in respect of company policy and procedure.
• To accurately prepare and interpret monthly reports on inventory for Management. (Values, quantities, ageing details, stock turnover days, stock counts etc)
• Responsible for all the interphases between sub ledger and general ledger related to Vehicle inventory

Job Knowledge & Skills Required

• Regulatory and legislative accounting framework (South African) (essential);
• Export systems, processes and terminology (desirable);
• Commercial automotive industry (desirable);
• SAP and/or Syspro system (desirable)
• Computer literacy – MS Office Suite, Excel (advanced level);
• Analytical skills;
• Communication skills (oral, written);
   

Job Experience

• Minimum of 5 years financial accounting (essential);
• Specific exposure to manufacturing/automotive industry (desirable);
• Specific exposure to inventory analysis and reporting (essential);
• Exposure to a multinational organisation (desirable);
• Exposure to consolidated reporting (desirable);
• Working knowledge of VAT and Tax (desirable)
