Financial Accountant (Insurance) at Ellahi Consulting

Key Purpose:

• The Financial Accountant (Insurance) contributes to the company’s goals by providing financial support aligned to the company’s strategy.
• This role entails an intense focus on the reconciliation of data – attention to detail and accuracy is critical.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• Matric
• Prefer B. Com. degree with accounting major or similar
• Experience in MS GreatPlains (GP) and GRID preferable
• System accounting experience is an advantage
• Minimum 5 years post-graduation experience

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

• Super-User/Advanced Microsoft Excel skills compulsory
• Deadline-driven, team player that is reliable and dependable with a positive attitude

• Attention to detail with analytical insights

DUTIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Month-End Deliverables (within required deadlines):

• Preparation of bordereaux and accounting schedules
• Preparation of cashbook
• Posting of journals
• System reconciliations
• Bank reconciliations
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Underwriter reconciliations
• Preparation and distribution of management accounts

Ensure accounting for the deliverables from other departments within finance:

• Credit Control
• Commissions
• Claim payments
• Attend to ad hoc queries
• Assist in budget and forecast cycles
• Attend to multiple internal and external audits throughout the year
• Assist in the identification of internal control weaknesses and suggest/implement improvements
• Provide financial analysis and insights in support of business decision-making needs
