    Financial Accountant (Pretoria)

    About the job

    • We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Accountant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing financial activities, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining financial records in compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role will involve preparing financial statements, conducting financial analysis, and assisting with audits and tax preparations. A key focus will be providing insight into the company’s Transactional Banking Business to support overall financial health

    Key Responsibilities:

    Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Ensure financial statements are accurate and in compliance with IFRS, GAAP, or relevant local accounting standards.
    • Conduct variance analysis, highlighting deviations from budget or forecast.

    General Ledger Management:

    • Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
    • Maintain and update financial records to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
    • Monitor financial transactions to ensure they are correctly recorded.

    Budgeting & Forecasting:

    • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial projections, particularly for the Transactional Banking division.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accuracy in financial planning.

    Compliance & Auditing:

    • Support internal and external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and other relevant legislation.

    Financial Analysis & Advice:

    • Provide financial analysis to aid decision-making for senior management.
    • Identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas of financial risk.

    Process Improvement:

    • Identify areas for process improvements in financial systems, reporting, and controls.
    • Implement best practices for financial accounting processes.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification (or pursuing certification).
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting or a related field.
    • Experience in preparing financial statements, managing general ledgers, and performing audits.
    • Familiarity with accounting software (Sage Evolution)

    Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS, GAAP, etc.).
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in Excel (advanced level).

    Desirable Attributes:

    • Experience with customer volume and rate principles.
    • Experience in management accounting or financial planning & analysis (FP&A).
    • Familiarity with ERP systems or other financial management software.
