    Audit Manager

    Job Description    

    • An opportunity has become available for an Audit Manager to join Forvis Mazars in South Africa.  The role is based at our Gauteng office.
    • The purpose of the role will be to perform audit related duties, manage the audit team, provide direction, supervision and review for each audit assignment.
    • Furthermore, to be responsible to ensure overall audit quality standards are met for all engagements. Supporting business development and building client relationships will also be key aspects of the role.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Manage resourcing and plotting of staff members on audit engagements
    • Work allocations as required by individual audit assignments
    • Audit assignment budget planning and management
    • Monitoring and evaluation of performance in relation to budget
    • Conduct full audit file reviews and related reports to ensure the relevant files are in compliance with the requirements set out by Forvis Mazars Audit Methodology, ISA’s and relevant accounting framework
    • Produce client reports (AFS, Minutes, Certificates, Management letters etc.)
    • Propose and finalise audit opinions
    • Performance management of staff members including, continuously providing feedback to staff
    • Provide technical assistance to staff members (where required)
    • Propose billings and manage WIP
    • Maintain and build excellent client relationships
    • Participate in business development efforts including targeting, lead generation, proposals etc.
    • Training, coaching and mentoring of audit staff

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Qualified CA(SA)
    • Minimum 2 - 3 years’ post articles experience
    • Proficient in CaseWare
    • Registered as a SAICA Assessor advantageous
    • A thorough knowledge of IFRS, IFRS for SME and ISA Core

    Assistant Manager – Global Mobility Services

    Job Description    

    • An opportunity exists in the Tax Consulting Division of Forvis Mazars; an international professional services firm, based in 7 offices across South Africa .
    • The purpose of the role is to manage expatriate tax compliance assignments as well as carry out research relating to a variety of tax issues (covering personal tax, expatriate tax and employees’ tax) affecting expatriates, private clients with tax reporting obligations in multi jurisdictions and multi-national employers, and to compile appropriate reports / opinions / letters and other documents under the overall responsibility of the senior team members or partners.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Prepare and write tax and  related reports / opinions / letters affecting individuals and multinational employers
    • Preparation of complex personal tax returns including gross up calculations
    •  Administer and process declarations of cessation of tax residency; Administer and process shadow payrolls
    • Tax administration and dispute resolution
    • Due Diligence an Tax Reviews with the focus on employees’ taxes
    • Interface with clients and colleagues in multi jurisdictions
    • Budget management in respect of client engagement
    • Manage individual productivity
    • Write articles and other client communication material
    • Self-training and development and group participation

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Minimum of 4 years tax experience in tax consulting practice with the focus on personal tax, including expatriate tax and employees’ tax
    • Accounting or law degree and a tax qualification 
    • Computer literate – proficient in Excel, Word and Power Point
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • English proficient

    Job Description    

    • Forvis Mazars is looking for Senior Data Analyts to assist the organization with monitoring of audit quality by collecting, summarizing data, synthesizing data, and compiling reports.
    • Communicate with multiple stakeholders and diverse audiences to recommend corrective behaviour.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
    • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
    • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
    • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
    • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
    • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
    • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
    • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages databases (SQL etc)
    • Strong SQL scripting and database management
    • Strong Excel skills (VBA Excel is advantageous)
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
    • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
    • Post matric qualifications (Quantitative or IT subjects are advantageous)
    • 3 + years working experience in the field
    • Background or strong interest in related technology solutions
    • Excellent verbal/written communications and interpersonal skills
    • Strong ability in self-motivated and high responsibility for daily work. Proven ability to work in a team environment and multi-task to produce quality client deliverables
    • Have strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and communication skills;
    • Excellent MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint required; Access preferred)

    Senior Accountant - Gqeberha

    Job Description

    • The job role will consist of ensuring the complete accounting function up until trial balance level, compile annual financial statements and perform independent reviews in accordance with the review standard for a variety of client portfolios

    • Gather client information
    • Prepare annual working paper files (including tax computations)
    • Draft annual financial statements (AFS) on Caseware
    • Process and reconcile monthly / bi-monthly client transactions and produce management accounts as required
    • Produce and submit client statutory returns (VAT) and resolve SARS queries
    • Budget vs actual analysis and reasons for overruns
    • Perform independent review engagements in accordance with the review standard (ISRE2400)
    • Resolve review queries from Assistant Manager/Manager/Partner and do final entries as per Partner’s finalisation
    • Manage individual productivity and budgets (include completion of timesheets)
    • Provide Sage/Caseware/Xero support to clients upon request
    • Foster, build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external clients

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Recognised 3-year degree as per the SAIPA/SAICA requirements
    • 4+ years of experience in an accounting/auditing environment, completed SAIPA/SAICA articles is preferred
    • Professional membership preferred
    • Excellent Computer skills
    • Proficiency in MS Office, i.e Word, Excel and Outlook is essential
    • Proficiency in Xero / Pastel / Sage is essential
    • Proficiency in Caseware and Caseview is essential
