What you'll do:

As a Financial Accountant based in Cape Town, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting while collaborating with various departments. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:

• Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards, ensuring all reporting deadlines are consistently met.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams to gather financial data, analyse results, and provide insightful recommendations for improvement.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes by reconciling accounts, reviewing transactions, and ensuring completeness of records.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities by compiling data, monitoring variances, and communicating findings to management.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure compliance across all financial operations within the organisation.
• Work together with external auditors during annual audits by providing requested documentation and addressing queries promptly.
• Monitor cash flow, manage accounts payable and receivable processes, and contribute to maintaining healthy financial practices.
• Participate in ongoing training opportunities to enhance your skills and stay current with industry developments relevant to financial accounting.
• Contribute positively to a communal team environment by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and engaging in regular feedback sessions.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Financial Accountant position brings proven experience in corporate finance environments along with strong analytical abilities.

• Qualified CA(SA)
• 2-3 years of experience post articles in a corporate environment
• Experience in the Financial Services industry would be advantageous
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while maintaining dependable interpersonal relationships
• Strong analytical skills paired with sensitivity towards details when reviewing transactions or compiling reports
• Experience supporting month-end and year-end closing processes through account reconciliation and record review
• Familiarity with budgeting techniques including variance analysis and communication of findings to stakeholders
• Up-to-date understanding of regulatory requirements affecting financial operations within South Africa
• Ability to respond promptly during audit processes by providing documentation and addressing auditor queries considerately
• Competence in managing cash flow as well as accounts payable/receivable procedures within an organisational context
• Enthusiasm for participating in training opportunities aimed at enhancing professional knowledge in financial accounting
