Financial Reporting Specialist at Airports Company South Africa

Key Performance Output

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Senior Manager External Reporting and Financial Accounting, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:

• Manage internal and external audit processes, including providing responses to and resolving findings, implementing controls and recommendations to mitigate risk.
• Supply information to internal and external auditors to meet objectives and ensure audit findings are addressed effectively in area of responsibility.
• Draft technical opinions with practical implementation guidance on accounting related matters.
• Conduct research and establish the impact on business brought by changes in accounting standards and/or new accounting standards.
• Review and approve accuracy of monthly transactional processing.
• Process complex, non-routine and group transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reports, including annual group financial statements in compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standards and relevant legislation.
• Monitor developments in accounting standards and recommend changes to group accounting policies.
• Manage internal control systems and the implementation of control measures to mitigate risk.
• Draft and implement standard operating procedures and processes in line with relevant statutory/legislative regulations, operational standards, internal financial and accounting policies.
• Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal and external relationships and implement remedial actions were required to ensure achievement of organisational goals.
• Provide relevant and specialised technical input in the area of expertise to relevant stakeholders to ensure achievement of objectives.
• Manage people development initiatives, succession planning and talent management to meet functional. performance standards.
• Coach team and create a pro-learning environment. Assess team development needs and close gaps.
• Accountable for operational team performance through effective management within policies and procedures to ensure achievement of standards/objectives.

Technical Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:

• Bachelor Honours Degree in Accountancy, NQF level 8 or equivalent is essential.
• Registration with the relevant professional body (Chartered Accountant or equivalent) is essential.
• 1 year Technical Accounting management experience is essential.
• 4 years Group Financial Accounting experience is essential.
• MS Office proficiency on advanced level and ERP systems on intermediate level are essential.
