Ensure the service and maintenance program on portable and fixed fire fighting equipment is performed as required to make sure that all equipment is in good working condition and legally compliant.
Conduct fire prevention inspections in the factory to make sure that we comply to: SANS 10400, 10087, 10089, 10090, 1475, 10287, 10139, ASIB, SAQCC and the local FPA requirements.
Prepare, lead, manage and train personnel for emergency response calls e.g. firefighting, first aid, chemical spills, injuries, explosions and chemical spills.
Partake in the review of work instructions to ensure that personnel work safely at all times.
Partake in fire incident investigations and ensure execution of corrective & preventative measures.
Do standbys when the need arise to minimise the risk when there is an incident or high risk activity being undertaken (e.g. hot works, bulk flammable liquid offloading).
Emergency Response planning & testing.
Interact and maintain relations with the Local Authority.
Partake in the Joint Planning Committee meetings.
Prepare and execute fire breaks at the relevant RDM sites to safeguard the sites from wildfires.
Plant fire fighting training to all operational staff.
Performance Management for all operational staff.
Acting in a higher capacity as required.
Submit reports as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Grade 12 or NQF4 equivalent qualification.
Minimum Higher Certificate in Fire Technology through SAESI, or Certificate Level 3 through IFE.
Fire Fighter 2 (SAESI accredited).
Pump Driver & Operator (SAESI accredited).
Fire officer & assessor training or Train the Trainer training.
First Aid Level 5 & registration with the HPCSA.
Driving Licence, minimum code C.
Must be physically fit, have the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces & under limited visual conditions (subject to fitness assessment).
Willing to work standby duties as well as planned / unplanned overtime as dictated by working circumstances.
Computer literacy: MS Word, Excel, Power Point-proficient level (minimum).
Prior work experience in an operational Supervisory capacity would be advantageous.
