Job Advert Summary    

• Join Exxaro Resources as a Fitter at Leeuwpan Coal in Delmas, Mpumalanga, where you'll be integral to our Mechanical Engineering team. This role involves maintaining and repairing assets and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance of conveying and cutting systems. You'll inspect and repair tools and equipment, conduct condition monitoring, and support during breakdowns to minimise downtime. Adherence to maintenance schedules, resource planning, and quality control in installations will be key responsibilities. We're looking for candidates with 2-3 years' experience in a heavy industry or mining environment, who are safety-conscious and capable of working collaboratively. Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical (Essential/Minimum)
• N2 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)
• Trade: Fitter MQA/QCTO (Essential/Minimum)
• 2-3 years of applicable technical and mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy industry, production or mining environment (Essential/Minimum)
• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Valid Public Driver's License: Code B (Essential/Minimum)
• Competence in Core MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
• Competence in On the Job MQA Modules Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Inspect, repair, and maintain assets, equipment, and surrounding infrastructure to ensure optimal functionality.
• Assist the Master Fitter with conducting condition monitoring, testing, fault finding, and problem-solving.
• Adhere to planned maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Assume responsibility for quality control in maintenance and new installations within the functional area.
• Support maintenance activities during equipment breakdowns and shutdowns to minimize downtime.
• Inspect all tools, equipment, and vehicles prior to use to ensure they are in safe working condition.
• Plan and order necessary parts in advance to avoid production delays due to tool or equipment failure.
• Adhere to and promote all health and safety practices, ensuring compliance with SHEC and technical requirements.
• Transfer knowledge and provide guidance to Artisan Aides and trainees to enhance their skills and competence.
• Report defects and unsafe practices immediately to superiors to maintain a safe working environment.
