Fitter & Turner - White River at TWK Agri

TWK Agri has the following vacancy available: Fitter & Turner at Rutland Sawmill, Mpumalanga.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Read and interpret drawings
• Manufacturing of maintenance spares for the sawmilling industry
• Turning and machining of various components including multistart, buttress, square, acme, metric and imperial threads
• Identifying different types of threads and their use in the industry
• Machining to standard tolerances
• Identifying of different types of bearings their application and the fitting of such bearings
• Knowledge of inline, radicon and crofts gearboxes, the assembly and repair thereof
• Fitting of keys, bushes, pins, gears, sprockets and alignment of various types of couplings including tyre couplings, spider couplings, gear couplings, flange couplings, etc.
• Do maintenance checklists
• Assist with maintenance planning
• Identify problematic machinery and inform management thereof
• Always maintain a safe working environment
• After repairing machinery in conjunction with production personel, ensure that the machine is working according to the required standard
• Be able to troubleshoot and do fault finding
• Do basic boiler making and welding, including the building of small structures
• Must be prepared to travel and work at different mills including the stayover as and when required

 Qualifications and Skills

• Matric / Grade 12 or N3
• Qualified red seal artisan
• Superb machining skills
• At least 3 years’ experience in an industrial environment
• Knowledge of the repair and manufacturing of sawmilling and mining timber production machinery spares
• Basic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
• Decision making abilities
• Ability to takeinitiative
• Computer literate (Word and Excel)
• Strong organisational skills
• Strong communication skills
• Basic boiler making and welding skills
• Prepared to work overtime and standby duties when required
• Prepared to do training courses to improve skills
• Good fitting skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Full set of tools as required by Bedrock mining Timber
