Front-end Developer at Carter SA

Front-end developer responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Contribute to the compilation of business specifications in collaboration with senior management, the development team, operations and other stakeholders
• Contribute to the creation of and comprehend the necessary technical specifications, wire-frames, application maps and other preparation documentation to ensure solid definition of requirements and alignment before development commences
• Provide steering to ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
• Manage and perform development in CSS, JavaScript, HTML5, REACT
• Retrieving and posting data using web API’s (MS SQL, PHP and .Net are nice-to-haves)
• Develop new user-facing features with limited support from development team / management for structuring / architecture and problem solving
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
• Fully document the code base and help maintain healthy code repository
• Adhere to and continually develop code and change management processes and protocols

Candidate Requirements

• Complete and pass the Carter Front-end Developer Assessment / Mini-project
• A minimum of 1 year of front-end coding experience in a working environment, especially with REACT or similar Javascript based frameworks is required
• Demonstrated successful delivery of large / complex front-end projects
• Strong affinity for learning and growth
• Strong communication skills and work ethic

Carter does not have expansive minimum requirements. We rather test for the intrinsic ability to do the job and manage ongoing performance. Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science / Information Systems, B.Com Informatics, B-Tech or related IT Qualification will be advantageous in passing the test and being successful in the role.

Conditions:

• This is a full-time role. The role will require a commitment of 5 days per week
• This is a work-from-home friendly role; Although the successful candidate will ideally be able to attend any in-person company events, meetings, team building events, etc. These events will be in Johannesburg and are infrequent.

Start Date: Flexible

Salary: Salary is between R 30 000 and R 50 000 per month, based on level of experience.
