    Fundraising Manager

    JOB SUMMARY

    We are looking for a motivated and talented Fundraising Manager who will help us grow our non-profit income and expand our pool of donors, to promote the financial security and sustainability of the Southern African HIV Clinicians Society (SAHCS). 

    Working closely with the CEO, the incumbent will help secure and sustain existing and future funding streams. The Fundraising Manager will be required to lead on researching and identifying potential new funders, develop and submit proposals, and build strong relationships with donors. 

    The incumbent will cover the whole spectrum of fundraising duties and will need to think strategically and work operationally. They will need to be confident in representing the organisation externally and coordinate and maintain strong working relationships.

    KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Set and achieve income targets across all fundraising disciplines, in particular developing strategies to maximise unrestricted income.
    • Develop and maintain the organisation’s portfolio of prospects and donors, ensuring efficient and appropriate data capture and data analysis for the purposes of effective stewardship, fundraising and communications. 
    • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy which considers the current fundraising approach and the need to introduce new strategies to meet targets. 
    • Lead, develop and implement a major donor strategy as part of the overall fundraising strategy.
    • Establish positive relationships with stakeholders in every sector, including government representatives. 
    • Represent the organisation with key supporters, funders and other key stakeholders. 
    • Conduct regular searches for Request for Proposals (RFP). Develop the proposals, budgets and associated documents, and oversee the timely submission of these high-quality proposals to funders. 
    • Develop and submit targeted unsolicited proposals and applications to potential funders.
    • Lead the development of new fundraising initiatives. 
    • Ensure that all fundraising activity is conducted in adherence with best practice, laws, and standards. 
    • Work with relevant staff and other relevant external and partner organisations to maximise all opportunities for joint activities / joint donor-funded projects. 
    • Lead the engagement and deepening of relationships with past and existing partners and donors. 
    • Ensure that the grant conditions of existing funders are met, as required. 
    • Work with the CEO to provide project leadership and oversight. 
    • Responsible for the funder reporting-process, including financial oversight. 
    • Implement monitoring strategies for existing and new projects. 
    • Develop, review, and manage an ongoing programme of activity to secure, maintain and develop new and existing support. 
    • Draft and negotiate fundraising contracts, in consultation with the CEO as required.
    • Provide support to the CEO, as required.
    • Attend and participate in SAHCS meetings, organisational reviews and planning as well as other meetings that relate to the work of SAHCS. 
    • Ad hoc job functions that may be required by SAHCS within reason and skill level. 

    EXPERIENCE 
    Essential: 

    • Experience of effectively managing a fundraising team. 
    • Evidenced track record of successfully meeting and exceeding fundraising targets. 
    • Evidence of developing successful fundraising applications to trusts, foundations, and grant funders. 
    • Demonstrable networking experience to build ongoing relationships. 
    • Experience of developing strong partnerships, particularly with corporates, trusts and foundations, and major international donors.

    SKILLS & ABILITIES 
    Essential: 

    • Outstanding communication skills, including experience of communicating effectively across varied audiences, both verbally and in writing. 
    • Able to build strong and lasting relationships with key stakeholders. 
    • Excellent organisational, planning and project management skills. 
    • Ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organisation. 
    • Strong financial management and budgeting skills. 
    • Ability to present and interpret complex information. 
    • Outstanding research skills, including identifying and monitoring potential funders. 
    • Exceptional negotiation and people skills.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING 
    Essential: 

    • A minimum of 5 years' experience in fundraising.
    • A strong academic record. Post-graduate degree in public health and/or other relevant discipline an advantage.
    • Experience and/or knowledgeable of the HIV healthcare sector.
    • Experience and knowledge of working with diverse donors.
