Requirements

• Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who believe they have the required skills and competencies to take on this position with effect from 1 January 2027.

The requirements for this position are:

• A suitable professional qualification and experience teaching Geography at a FET level, including Grade 12.
• Understanding of current educational practices and trends, with a particular focus on Geography
• Evidence of innovative and dynamic teaching
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ideal candidate will be able to foster and sustain inspiring and professional relationships with students and colleagues, communicate their passion for Geography, and grow the department
• Proficient computer skills, and a vision with respect to how technology can be incorporated in the learning experience
• An unequivocal commitment to efficiency in a busy school. Excellent organisation and people-management skills are vital to this position.
• Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the College. The candidate should be willing to contribute to the life of the school in various aspects.
• A commitment to on-going personal and professional development
• A willingness to commit to its all-round ethos, co-curricular activities and pastoral approach
• Proof of registration with SACE supported by a sexual offender’s clearance certificate

The following will be an advantage:

• Previous experience teaching in girls’ schools
• Experience at IEB or DBE Grade 12 marking would be a distinct advantage
• Knowledge of the IEB academic and administration expectations
