    GDT Business Analyst

    ROLE PURPOSE

    Strategic and Tactical role that is accountable for guiding the organization in improving processes, products, services, and software through various requirements and data analysis techniques. Duties include analyzing company reports, market research and evaluating business processes, strategizing ideas to improve business processes and meeting with company stakeholders to provide suggestions based on their analysis. Key strategic focus areas include bridging the gap and improving efficiency between business and Group Digital Technology teams so that business can maximize the value derived from IT Services.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Understands what the business does, including most significantly, the processes through which they accomplish their work.
    • Evaluate key processes for efficiency, cost, and results
    • Compile recommendations on process adjustments, new potentially impactful technologies, or other areas for improvement
    • Elicits, analyses, specifies, and validates the business needs of stakeholders
    • Collaborates with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision
    • Conducts interviews to gather customer requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods
    • Identifies and establishes scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics
    • Analyses and verifies requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards with the Solution Architect
    • Develops and utilizes standard templates to write requirements specifications accurately and concisely
    • Creates process models to be used in the analysis and confirmation of requirements
    • Develops and conduct peer reviews of the business requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted
    • Assists with the interpretation of customer requirements into feasible options and communicating these back to the business stakeholders
    • Manages and tracks the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary
    • Communicates changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements, verbally or through written documentation, to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood
    • Ensure that confidentiality, integrity and availability of catered for when evaluating business processes and making recommendations
    • Takes full responsibility for business analysis within all segments of Aspen where the advice given, and decisions made will have a measurable impact on the profitability or effectiveness of the organisation using technology
    • Leads the selection of appropriate business analysis methods, tools, techniques; selecting appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches
    • Establishes the contribution that technology can make to business objectives, defining strategies, validating and justifying business needs, conducting feasibility studies, producing high-level and detailed business models, preparing business cases, overseeing development and implementation of solutions, taking into account the implications of change on the organisation and all stakeholders
    • Guides senior management towards accepting change brought about through process and organisational change
    • Takes responsibility for investigative work to determine business requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and organisation change
    • Collaborates with stakeholders at all levels, in the conduct of investigations for strategy studies, business requirements specifications and feasibility studies
    • Prepares business cases which define potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated business risks
    • Obtains a good and aligned understanding with business executives of Aspen’s business in terms of business goals, objectives, functions and processes, the information used and the data on which the information is based
    • Owns the requirements repository and the maintenance of requirements in the repository
    • Obtain approval of requirements and solutions

    Education Qualifications And Experience

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • B.Com / BSc Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience
    • Current industry certification in business analysis (i.e., Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Optional Project Management Certification, e.g., PMP, etc.)
    • 5-10 years’ experience of proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation modelling, verification, and methodology development
    • Experience and sound knowledge of service and system methodologies and innovation practices
    • 5-10 years’ experience in 1 or more business functional areas and 1 or more IT service related area (e.g. IT Service Management, Portfolio management, Integration management, etc.
    • Preferably experience in the Pharmaceutical and Quality Management areas and processes.
    • 5-10 years’ experience leading business analysis initiatives for multinational companies which includes managing the expectations of both internal business stakeholders and 3rd parties in a multivendor approach
