Group Financial Manager – Statutory Reporting at Alexander Forbes

Purpose of this role:

Manager of a financial reporting team and responsible for the management of the consolidated financial reporting of the Alexander Forbes Group Holdings Limited and all JSE financial reporting requirements, in addition to the preparation of all financial statements within the group.

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

• CA(SA) IS ESSENTIAL with 5 -10 years post article experience within the financial services sector with listed company experience.
• 5 - 10 years strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards, Companies Act, JSE listing requirements, financial modelling and valuation techniques.

Business understanding:

• Detailed understanding IFRS and consolidation principles
• Excellent advanced excel skills and word skills
• BPC and Smartstream experience will be advantageous

• Ability to think conceptually and see the bigger picture
• Strong problem-solving, investigative and sound decision-making skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network and build strategic relationships / partnerships at all levels of the organisation
• Demonstrates strong leadership qualities and communications skills are vital
• Solid technical expertise coupled with financial acumen / business insight and risk awareness
• Ability to work well under pressure and in an ever-changing environment
• Attention to detail and meticulous execution of tasks

Key Performance Areas:

• Reporting to the Head of statutory reporting, the incumbent will be responsible for the management of the consolidated financial reporting of the Alexander Forbes Group Holdings Limited and all JSE financial reporting requirements, in addition to the preparation of all financial statements within the group.
• Manage the consolidation process and ensure integrity of reported amounts in the preparation of the listed financial statements.
• Manage and co-ordinate the group audit process.
• Oversee and review the maintenance and accuracy of the group reporting related packs and consolidation process.
• Oversee the balance sheet substantiation process and provide exception reports to management.
• Manage all new IFRS reporting standard changes through all financial statements within the group.
• Responsible for the group balance sheet and ensuring that adequate substantiation is performed for divisional balances.
• Preparation and review of results announcement and analyst presentations.
• Liaise with Sponsor and respond to queries on checklists.
• Calculation of key performance ratios reported to the market.
• Perform value in use calculations of cash generating units – goodwill impairment model.
• Preparation and review of quarterly CFO report.
• Computation of earnings per share, headline earnings per share, diluted earnings per share.
• Assessment of forecasted earnings per share, headline earnings per share, diluted earnings per share and provide guidance on impact on group decisions to these items.
• Forecasting monthly, quarterly and annual results.
• Assist in adhoc task and projects from time to time.
