Job Description

• Meridian Wine Distribution is seeking a Handyman to join our team in Brackenfell, Cape Town. The successful candidate will perform general maintenance and repair activities to ensure that the building, equipment, and facilities remain safe, functional, and operational, supporting efficient business operations and compliance with health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities:

• Orders are checked and verified correctly before dispatch.
• Orders are prepared and ready for delivery according to schedule.
• Checking activities comply with operational and safety procedures.
• Stock discrepancies are identified and reported promptly.
• Warehouse activities comply with health and safety standards.
• Dispatch processes run smoothly without delays caused by errors.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and functional working environment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from departments.
• Ensure shared areas are safe and operational.
• Support operational teams by maintaining facility readiness.
• Maintain equipment and facilities to prevent damage.
• Use materials and tools responsibly.
• Report equipment damage or shortages.
• Support cost-effective maintenance practices.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repair tasks.
• Conduct daily inspections of facilities and equipment.
• Repair or replace damaged equipment and infrastructure.
• Report major maintenance issues requiring specialist support.
• Inspect building infrastructure including doors, lighting, and equipment.
• Maintain storage areas, cages, and operational spaces.
• Monitor facility conditions and identify maintenance needs.
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed according to standards.
• Maintain yard and surrounding areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Remove waste and debris from operational areas.
• Ensure workplace cleanliness standards are maintained.
• Support safe movement within the facility.
• Follow occupational health and safety procedures.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report hazards, incidents, or safety concerns immediately.
• Support compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Maintain knowledge of maintenance procedures and tools.
• Participate in training and development activities.
• Use tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
• Demonstrate continuous improvement in maintenance skills.

Education and experience:

• Grade 10
• 2–3 years’ experience in maintenance or facility support
• Ability to perform manual maintenance work
• Ability to operate maintenance tools safely
• Valid right to work in South Africa
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions
