    Head, Inventory & Warehousing

    •  To manage Warehouses (Issuing and Receiving) and Inventory management for the Business

    MAJOR CHALLENGES: 

    • Scarcity of stock availability  Lead times of various transactions (Issuing, Receiving)  Maintaining of data systems and reporting

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    •  B Degree (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum or)
    •  BCom Supply Chain Management (Essential/Minimum and)
    •  Certificate First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 3-5 years SCM in a Mining or Industrial environment

    REQUIREMENTS:

    •  Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)
    •  Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)


    POSITION OUTPUTS:

    • The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:
    • Compliance, Governance and Assurance
    •  Provide guidance to direct reports and customers to ensure all policies, procedures, standards and guidelines are adhered to in execution of inventory management activities
    •  Create awareness, address all unsafe or non-conforming practices and accept responsibility for area of responsibility


    Customer and Client Relationship Management

    •  Manage applicable internal and external relations, including interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure business needs are met
    •  Provide relevant support to applicable stakeholders
    •  Collaborate and communicate with suppliers

    Functional Excellence

    •  Ensure on time delivery of purchased goods.
    •  Apply best practices, promote sharing of best practices/knowledge in the activities of Request For Quotation (RFQ) issuing/On contract purchasing, Purchase Order (PO) placement, Expediting and encouraging in group purchasing work split sharing or allocation.
    •  Execute purchasing training requirements for own team of buyers and provide frequent end-users purchase requisition training
    •  Identify and report critical functional risks

    Functional Management

    •  Query and non-conformance resolution coordination: Receive, investigate, resolve and feedback on all queries relating buying activities of team owned purchasing groups e.g. No PO, No Goods Received Voucher (GRV), non-compliance to contracts - call offs, price mismatch etc.
    •  Performance management: Ensure Business Unit (BU) related purchasing group buying performance measure is tracked, with non-performance investigated, action taken to improve non-performance and feedback communicated to various stakeholder’s platforms. Provide feedback to managers. Coordinate functional/cross-functional activities to ensure functional alignment. Maintain high performance standards. Track and drive functional targets/goals, hold Buyers responsible for achieving results.
    •  Continuous improvement and purchasing effectiveness: Identify and execute procurement analytics on noncompliance to on contract buying, gap on targeted functional performance, purchasing group work split/allocation ineffectiveness, end-user non-conformance trend impact on buying performance and corporate office service delivery gaps and ensure active intervention through suggestions on improvements that will positively impact on service delivery, end-user versus Supply chain management (SCM) relations and functional performance.
    •  Engagement/communication: Communicate and engage functional employees, including virtuals. Engage with managers, operations and cross-functionally with peers.
    •  Governance: Ensure function adheres to governance, policies, standards, statutory and legal compliance. Entrench a culture of discipline.

    Inventory Control

    •  Manage inventory, optimise stock availability to end-users, internal- and inspections control
    •  Develop and compile inventory management strategy, administer inventory forecasting, verify parameters and oversee Quality Assurance (QA)
    •  Develop criteria for stock taking, standardise stock classification criteria for identification purposes


    Master Data Management

    •  Implement company codification standards and ensure sound stock preservation practices are applied
    •  Determine guidelines for management of different stock categories and report to Manager SCM (Region) and Head Quarters (HQ)
    •  Manage and ensure Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) master data, codification and Material requirements planning (MRP) parameters are maintained


    People Management

    •  Performance management: Clarify roles/responsibilities and expectations. Define individual performance standards, monitor and measure performance, reward and recognise high performance. Apply consistent performance and consequence management, take prompt action against non-performance.
    •  Talent development: Actively manage talent through regular assessment of employees’ strengths, development needs and development progress. Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching and development feedback to employees. Manage functional talent pipeline and succession planning process. Promote culture of continuous learning. Encourage and empower team to make decisions.
    •  Culture/functional climate: Embody, translate and entrench Company culture and values in function, address behaviours that undermine values. Foster effective teamwork and unity. Create an environment in which people are inspired to perform and a high-performance culture.
    •  Communication/engagement: Proactively address conflicts, initiate difficult conversations.
    •  Team development: Develop effective and high performing team. Create an environment of accountability and trust.
    •  In consultation with Manager Procurement, identify reporting needs and validate against framework
    •  Determine capability and performance gaps in order to identify training needs


    Safe and Healthy Work Environment

    •  Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies procedures in line with set standards
    •  Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations

    Specialised Support

    •  Identify slow movers and move m out of system in accordance with Company policy and strategy
    •  Ensure execution of taking inventory auditing practices according to defined processes
    •  Compile and manage stock taking procedure and processes, and quality assurance and inspection process
    •  Determine assets / and provide inputs to redundancy/scrap identification
    •  Responsible for financial asset administration and disposal authorization

    Systems Infrastructure and Enablement

    •  Conduct accurate and timeous materials management reporting
    •  Participate and provide support in audit process and continuous improvement of regional inventory function
    •  Identify opportunities for improvement in area of direct responsibility
    •  Participate in and support implementation of information management technology and infrastructure supports SCM processes in inventory unit
    •  Ensure team's utilisation of relevant ERP module is done in manner ensures data integrity


    Warehouse Operations

    •  Develop implement and control receiving and issuing processes and procedures
    •  Ensure that employees are trained in policy processes and procedures
    •  Quality ensure processes procedure adherence
    •  Determine stock level and ensure processes are followed to ensure minimum inventory stock levels are maintained
