Job Advert Summary    
PURPOSE:

• To assist manager with day-to-day management of the mine in area of responsibility.

• Responsible for the managing and directing of various activities within a specified section of the mine.

• To ensure specified targets are met and allocated resources are used effectively.
Minimum Requirements    
QUALIFICATIONS:
• N Dip: Mining Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate Blasting For Fiery Mines (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)
• B Tech Mining (Recommended/Desirable or)
• BEng Mining Engineering (Recommended/Desirable)

EXPERIENCE:
5 years Relevant Mining operational experience of which at least 2 years specific exposure as Production Foreman or Shift Leader is Recommended

Duties & Responsibilities    
POSITION OUTPUTS:

The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:
Compliance, Governance and Assurance
• Conduct timeous investigations of incidents and ensure that adequate remedial actions are implemented
• Execute and drive safety programs
• Ensure effective risk management by continuously identifying hazardous activities and mitigation measures

Customer and Client Relationship Management
• Support core business by ensuring appropriate stakeholder relationships towards enhancing corporate profile
• Manage and maintain internal and external client relations, including interface with external providers and other functions to ensure that business needs are met, and employees are satisfied
• Provide relevant support and legislative service to applicable stakeholders

Effective People Management
• Ensure optimised team work through motivation/empowerment and leading by sound transformational leadership
• Promote teamwork/provide support and manage performance by creating/maintaining individual development plans for subordinates
• Enforce discipline within area of responsibility
• Ensure all employees are effectively trained and competent to perform required duties in a disciplined manner

Financial Support Services
• Execute operations within section's annual budget
• Assist with relevant contracts and documentation in line with departmental budgetary stipulations
• Ensure optimisation in cost and production areas

Functional Excellence
• Adhere to functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, end- to-end processes, tools, templates etc.
• Assist in standardising, simplifying and speeding-up functional processes, eliminating duplication/bureaucracy
• Apply functional best practices, promote sharing of best practices/knowledge

Internal Business Processes
• Ensure effective and efficient execution of mining operations through the process of plan, execute, review and optimise
• Ensure adherence to planned maintenance schedules
• Effectively manage equipment fleet within working environment
• Provide guidance and instruction to subordinates
• Provide inputs to planning and optimisation processes in order to improve mining operations

Process Optimisation
• Responsible for meeting mining production targets by adhering to production/maintenance schedules
• Attend to breakdowns whilst maintaining set production targets
• Ensure optimal use of available resources both people and equipment
• Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance work within functional area
• Conduct trouble-shooting in order to identify root cause for substandard operating conditions
• Complete/process and update all records and related documentation

Project Management
• Initiate continuous improvement initiatives leading to cost saving opportunities and operational excellence
• Liaise with other departments toward evaluating new technologies to improve process capabilities/product quality and throughput requirements
• Manage projects with regards to processes, technology and equipment
• Evaluate and complete projects with minimum risk, within allocated timeframes and according to specified budgets
• Provide input and focus on projects and teams
• Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders

Safe and Healthy Work Environment
• Maintain and ensure a healthy environment and safe operations practices
• Ensure compliance with all applicable Safety Health and Environment (SHE) policies and procedures in line with set standards
• Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations
