Head of Analytics and Data Science

• We are recruiting for a Head of Analytics and Data Science to join an affordable and quality healthcare service provider. The ideal candidate will join the hospital in the South-Western Township of Johannesburg.

Minimum Requirements:

• Essential: B. Honours Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Data Science.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as an Actuarial Scientist.
• At least 2 years of experience in people management.
• Advantageous: Healthcare experience.
• Valid Driver’s License and Vehicle.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Manage the Data Science and Analytics department, overseeing its operations and personnel.
• Provide consistent and high-quality advice and guidance to internal stakeholders regarding Data Science and Analytics matters.
• Analyse trends, anticipate issues, and establish contingency plans while proactively recommending solutions to identified risks.
• Provide advice and, if necessary, draft relevant documentation related to CHG Standards, Policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertaining to Data Science, Analytics, and Business Intelligence.
• Identify innovative approaches to improve business practices, processes, and synergies in order to increase operational efficiencies.
• Develop and implement Data Science and Analytics strategies and frameworks for the organisation, including the establishment and maintenance of reporting systems.
• Provide support, guidance, and advisory services to relevant workstreams such as Clinical, Finance, and Hospital Management, to drive operational success.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and effectively manage operational risks within the Data Science and Analytics function.
• Define and establish an efficient and effective knowledge capture process, utilising suitable tools and reporting mechanisms.
• Ensure the development and implementation of advanced data-driven models to optimise identified business processes.
• Utilise Data Science to predict business performance and make informed decisions.
• Apply Data Science techniques to predict clinical outcomes and enhance patient safety.
