Head of Claims at Santam Insurance

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The successful candidate will be responsible for the systems, processing, handling, negotiation and settlement of Corporate and Commercial Claims for the full territorial scope in which the company operates including the RSA, the rest of Africa and various territories outside of Africa. This role will see you as the ultimate referral point for all aspects of the claims process.

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE?

• Manage, Mentor, instruct and direct staff regarding proper claims handling and processing;
• Instructing Loss Adjusters as required;
• To ensure compliance with company standards/regulations at all times;
• Train and monitor team member’s performance and provide leadership to the team;
• Develop and manage a panel of service providers necessary for efficient claims handling;
• Liaise with service providers and monitor service levels;
• Demonstrated decision making & problem solving skills;
• Liaison / negotiation with Reinsurers
• Compiling of management reports as required;
• Continually review and measure team activities against targets, standards and service levels, agreeing and taking actions to improve capability and performance, so that the team achieves its maximum potential;
• Responsible to ensure that all staff are up to date with product knowledge, systems use, and related legislation application, through a commitment to formalised training and development, within prescribed time lines and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Admitted Attorney and / or LLB Degree
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience post admission preferable
• Minimum 5 years market related / short term insurance industry experience preferred.
• Divisional management experience
