Appropriate qualifications that allow registration with HPCSA as Medical Specialist in a normal speciality or in recognized Sub-Speciality. HPCSA registration as Medical Specialistin a normal speciality or in a recognized Sub-Speciality.
A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in a normal speciality or a recognized Sub-Speciality.
The following will be added advantage:A minimum of 5 years’appropriate experience as a specialist Vascular surgeon. Documented experience in performing Vascular surgery procedures, teaching of pre- and post-graduate students, supervision of students doing Phd, MMed or MSc, at least 5 publications in peer-reviewed DHET-accredited journals and management skills. Acompleted Phd. Knowledge and Skills: Assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with vascular-related conditions.
Teaching, training and supervision of pre-and post-graduate students. Understanding of of basic Human Resoutce matters, including performance appraisal and, monitoring and management of Remunerative Work Outside Public Service ( RWOPS).
Duties :
Provide leadership, clinical governance, and oversight in the Vascular Unit Surgery in the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital( CMJAH) Cluster. Monitor and develop improvement plan regarding clinical output, patients’s safety incidents and cost containment strategies.
Optimally supervise and train junior personal, including specialists working in the area, registrars and students from other healthcare professions. Parcipation in research and academic meetings, assessment of pre- and post-graduate students when required. Direct involvement during surgical procedures in thatres at CMJAH and other hospitals in the CMJAH Cluster. Ordering of equipment.
Quality improvement and cost containment. After-hour duties will be part of the package. Management of RWOPS. Monitoring of performance, appraisal of staff, development of staff and succession planning. Timeous response to complaints from patients, families and other stakeholders. TRAINING AND TEACHING: Advise and supervise Registrars and fellows.
Formal teaching to postgraduate and Undergraduate and postgraduate staff. Review of current literature and research. Attend appropriate CME updates. Develop diagnostic and surgical skills amongst junior staff. RESEARCH: Participate in research within the department, to improve Knowledge and clinical outcomes.
