Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist: Diagnostic Radiology. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist Diagnostic Radiology and current registration with the HPCSA for 2026/2027.
A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience in Radiation Sciences after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist. Experience/exposure in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, involvement in research and management skills will be of an added advantage. Skills/ Knowledge/competence: Good leadership skills, excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, conflict resolution and good interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate must be adaptable, disciplined, and self-confident. The candidate must be able to work independently and under pressure and beyond normal working hours and work with diverse team.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team. Clinical skillset to manage high volume patient numbers, have clinical experience to adequately manage patients according to their specialty or subspecialty needs.
Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, involvement in research and management skills will be of an added advantage. Understanding of basic human resource matters including Labour Relations. Knowledge of legislative prescripts governing public services. A valid driver's license.
Duties :
Manage and run the Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy and General Radiology unit in the Radiology Department at CHBAH. Perform clinical duties in areas of personal special interest and expertise.
Ensure that clinical services are provided. Active participation in administrative duties of the department which include planning, budgeting, PMDS, student assessments.
Comply with the Performance and development System (Contracting, quarterly reviews and final assessments). To collaborate and assist the HOD’s of Radiology Department in other institutions and the Cluster Hospitals whenever needed, in service delivery, teaching and training as an outreach programme.
Ensure that appropriate, ethical and quality research is performed in the department as part of a wider agenda to explore improvements in health care in the Chris Hani Baragwanath area and South Africa as a whole with publication of the results in peer-reviewed scientific journals. As part of the university’s responsibility, sufficient and quality teaching must be provided to undergraduates (medical students) and postgraduates (Registrars and Fellows). Teach students in areas of personal special interest and expertise.
Participate in the Radiology examinations of the College of Medicine South Africa. Ensure the employment of the previously disadvantaged individuals in terms of race, gender and disability to enhance equity.
Perform commuted overtime as per departmental requirement. Contribute to Radiology planning, budgeting and procurement processes as well as monitoring and evaluation.
