    Head of Clinical Unit (Nuclear Medicine)

    Requirements :

    • MBChB or an equivalent qualification, MMed in Nuclear Medicine and FCNP(SA) or equivalent qualification.
    • Proof of registration with the HPCSA as an Independent Specialist in Nuclear Medicine.
    • Current registration with HPCSA as a Independent Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Nuclear Physician.
    • Knowledge Skills Training and Competencies required at Specialist level. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a team.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Inherent requirement of the job: The successful incumbent will be required to perform commuted overtime in the Department of Nuclear Medicine.

    Competencies (knowledge/skills):

    • Excellent team player. Strong record of clinical expertise, clinical governance, research, teaching and training at postgraduate levels. Excellent managerial, interpersonal, leadership, administrative, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to supervise, clinical training and teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and fellowship levels.
    • Knowledge in Nuclear Medicine including provision of direct clinical care/intervention, supervision and mentoring of subordinates.

    Duties :

    • The post requires the incumbent to provide a specialist services in Nuclear Medicine and ensure effective and efficient clinical specialist level service delivery, including reporting PET/CT, SPECT, SPECT/CT and planar images and the administration of radionuclide therapy, within the domain of the central hospital as well as at other cluster hospitals where required.
    • In addition, the incumbent will be required to contribute to the Nuclear Medicine services at DGMAH and within the cluster. Provide support to the Head of Department in ensuring that efficient standards of patient care and services are maintained. Support dissemination and implementation of policies, protocols and clinical guidelines aligned with national norms and standards.
    • Commuted overtime is compulsory and will be undertaken as part of the Nuclear Medicine services within the hospital. The applicant must have an active interest in academic research.
