Head of Data Engineering at GBS

Job Description
We are charting a bold course towards becoming a trailblazing data-driven organization and are seeking a visionary Head of Data Engineering to harness the power of data to transform both our operational landscape and customer experiences. 

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

Leadership & Strategy:

• Provide vision and strategy for all data engineering projects
• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, ensuring project deliverables are met on time
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data solutions into business operations

Data Infrastructure & Analytics:

• Drive the organizations migration to the cloud
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of our data warehouse, ensuring optimal performance
• Ensure the robustness and reliability of ETL processes
• Develop and optimize real-time data analytics solutions
• Manage all reporting deliverables

Expertise in Cloud Architecture, particularly with data-related services:

• Manage our Azure data ecosystem, ensuring best practices are followed
• Utilize Azure Synapse for advanced analytics and data exploration
• Drive the roll out of self-service data provision across the organization

Data Governance & Compliance:

• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with all relevant regulations
• Promote a culture where data quality is paramount

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and prioritize data needs
• Communicate complex data concepts in a clear manner to non-technical stakeholders

Essential Requirements:

• Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 3 to 5 years experience managing a data team (data engineers, data analysts and BI)
• Solid experience with BI reporting
• Must have at least 5 – 7 years data engineering experience with experience in Database Technologies:
• Solid experience in RDBMS technologies, including but not limited to, MS SQL, My SQL, Postgres.
• Solid experience in NoSQL technologies, including but not limited to, MongoDB, Cosmos, Redis.
• Solid grasp search platforms such as Elasticsearch or ELK.
• Prior experience working with Handson SQL, Python and R
•  Specialized knowledge in designing Cloud systems, especially those focused on handling data services:
• Strong experience in data analytics, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions.
• Proficiency with Azure Synapse and its integration within the data landscape.
• A solid understanding of how to approach a cloud centric data strategy.
• Prior experience within a call centre environment is beneficial.
• Familiarity with other cloud platforms and big data tools is a plus.
• Certifications in Azure or related technologies a plus.
