Head of Plant at Anglo American

Key role requirements:

• Lead and manage the Plant specialist team, provide guidance, support and overarching strategy.
• Develop and execute strategic plans and objectives for the Plant in alignment with AA's overall goals.
• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of Process Plant projects, ensuring their successful execution.
• Establish and maintain a central governance of Plant Master Data ensuring excellence in our service strategies and tactics on commonly used equipment.
• Collaborate with other departments to identify and address engineering-related needs and challenges.
• Ensure compliance with and develop relevant Process Plant standards, codes, and regulations in all projects and operations.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Process Plant team.
• Benchmark AA Process Plants internally and externally.
• Maintain relationships with Process Plant Suppliers, with a clear purpose of continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and suppliers to support a high quality of maintenance execution, and extension of component life.
• Manage the aggregation of Process Plant specialist in order to support best-in-class guidance and expertise.
• Oversee the process of the Process Plant specialists developing and owning baseline asset tactics and service strategies.

Qualifications:

• An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline
•  A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity
• Registered Professional Engineer

Role-specific knowledge/Requirements

• A demonstrated thought leader and considered a global expert in the understanding and application of Maintenance Management within Fixed Plant environments.
• Significant knowledge of work management, major maintenance projects (e.g., shutdowns, refurbishing/overhauls etc.) OEM strategies, equipment strategies, operational readiness, maintenance supply processes and MARC management.
• Thought leader in the field of Maintenance Management reporting and analysis in a complex, matrix structured global resources organisation.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior people leadership role within a complex technical environment, including the coordination of knowledge sharing across a discipline, managing workload and reviewing the work of others to ensure consistency with task requirement.
• Act as a thought leader for technical analysis and support operations and projects globally.
• Translate insights of the global markets into technical solutions to enhance the economics of the mining value chain.
• Knowledge of the mining and process equipment including technology development activities.
• International best practice in the maintenance field particularly as applied to the resources industry.
• Provides consistent outstanding behaviour in relation to safety practices with a deep understanding of the importance of safety.
• Fluency in English. Proficiency in Portuguese and/or Spanish language skills would be highly advantageous.
