    Head of Sales Pet Health

    Position Description

    The Head of Sales Pet Health Animal South Africa is a member of the SASSA Lead Team. Primary responsibility of the HoS lies in delivering business results for Pet Health (primarily Companion animals dogs and cats) in South Africa. Strategy creation and its optimal execution for the business unit as well as for the wider affiliate are integral parts of the role.

    Expectation of Value Creation for the organization will be two-fold:

    • Customer value – build and maintain a comprehensive, sustainable and profitable portfolio of products and value added services for customers in partnership with the Affiliate Director, Head of Marketing and Head of Technical Services. Actively seek opportunities to increase customer value.
    • Employee value – build, develop and retain a customer focused sales team which is capable of delivering value to customers by providing leadership, direction and coaching.
       

    Functions, Duties, Tasks

    • Develop and execute the annual business and profit plans, acting as the principal responsible for the budgets within the allocated resources (Operational Expenses budget (OPEX)).
    • Cultivate long-term relationships with customers, distributors, wholesalers and key influencers in order to promote the Elanco brand and business goals.
    • Jointly with Elanco Marketing develop and implement the local marketing plans for the Pet Health Sector in South Africa.
    • Identify opportunities and implement plans to grow Elanco market share (plan, execute and achieve market share growth).
    • Drive market intelligence initiatives; monitor industry trends, competitor products and activities.
    • Continuously improve knowledge of animal health industry as relates to the local market (diseases, life cycles and solutions etc).
    • Develop and implement Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Sales Force Excellence (SFE) tools and targets for increasing knowledge base of customers and enhancing Sales Team Performance in close alignment with global Elanco Sales Force Excellence.
    • Recruit, develop, coach and retain team.
