Minimum Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- N Dip: Engineering (Essential/Minimum or)
- N Dip: Technical (Essential/Minimum)
- Certificate First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)
- N Dip: Security & Risk Control (Recommended/Desirable)
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years Relevant Risk control, security and/or facilities management experience within a heavy industry, mining, production environment. Criminal investigations. Procurement procedures and contract management. (Essential/Minimum) Operational
REQUIREMENTS:
- Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
- Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
- Security Industry Regulatory Authority (Essential/Minimum)
Duties & Responsibilities
POSITION OUTPUTS:
The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:
Business Performance and Operations
Compliance, Governance and Assurance
- Ensure compliance with codes of practice, instructions, procedures, directives, permissions and exceptions
- Investigate all breaches/contraventions
- Ensure compliance with provisions of Minerals Act (Act 50 of 1991) all other related safety legislation
- Support management in developing performance requirements and contractual terms for security vendors/suppliers
- Compile and submit monthly risk control reports to GRC
- Conduct quarterly audits to determine adequacy of risk control measures, identify gaps and implement improvement
- Establish effective monitoring processes to ensure organisational needs requirements are met
- Establish and maintain an effective intelligence network
Customer and Client Relationship Management
- Manage risk control service providers at the corporate office
- Liaise with local South African Police Services (SAPS), SAPS community forum, emergency services, traffic/metro police and neighbouring owners/ farmers
- Manage external service providers to safeguard and improve corporate centre infrastructure and services
- Participate in and contribute towards relevant industry forums and network groups to identify best practices to ensure that successful programmes are shared and leveraged across the group
Functional Excellence
- Develop and maintain functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, end-to-end processes, tools, templates etc. and enforce group-wide adherence to these
- Standardise, simplify and speed-up functional processes and eliminate duplication/bureaucracy
- Develop and apply functional best practices and promote sharing of best practices/knowledge
- Drive and execute functional excellence initiatives
- Oversee and monitor activities at corporate centre
- Establish functional forums and Communities of Practice (COP’s) to ensure alignment
- Identify and manage critical functional risks through appropriate mitigation plans and actions
Functional Management
- Financial management: Prepare/manage function’s budget. Forecast/recover costs. Plan, coordinate, budget for and implement maintenance for the corporate building. Assume responsibility for design and implementation of infrastructure development and improvement
- Set functional direction, develop functional strategic plan including aligning functional work/resources
- Establish measurable functional targets from Company targets.
- Define and reinforce the link between Company, functional, operational goals and individual outputs, measures and rewards
- Performance management: Ensure functional plan implemented through disciplined execution processes, track implementation and provide feedback to executive. Coordinate functional/cross-functional activities to ensure strategic alignment. Set and maintain high performance standards. Track and drive functional targets/goals and hold staff responsible for achieving results. Remove obstacles that interfere with performance and manage performance problems
- Continuous improvement and functional change: Identify, advocate for and lead functional improvement and change. Create a culture of continuous improvement and change agility in function
- Engagement/communication: Communicate and engage functional employees. Engage cross-functionally with peers/customers
- Governance: Ensure function adheres to governance, policies and standards, statutory and legal compliance. Entrench a culture of discipline
People Management

Risk Control Operations
- Evaluate methods to improve security loss prevention
- Develop employee security awareness programs to achieve organisational goals/objectives
- Maintain confidentiality
- Perform first line investigation of reported incidents
- Execute electronic access control measures and control access control system
- Manage/conduct collection preservation of evidence to support post investigation actions and ensure incidents are documented and reported
- Attend tender committee meetings and conduct regular checks/audits on tender procedures scrap sales
