    Hydraulic Technician

    About the job

    Sappi Saiccor Mill requires the service of a Hydraulic Technician to act as a custodian of the mill wide hydraulic systems by providing an engineering and maintenance service to ensure optimum performance and availability of the hydraulic systems and contribute to the mill OEE.

    This role reports to the Maintenance Manager Mechanical.

    The main responsibilities of the job are:

    • Modify hydraulic and lubrication systems by configuring new components and installation to standardise equipment as far as possible to meet production and engineering requirements.
    • Submit all system modifications and obtain approval by the relevant Production and Engineering personnel, including the filing of documentation at the Drawing Office for future reference.
    • Ensures plant hydraulic system drawings/schematics are correct, updated timeously, and the latest revision is filed at Drawing Office.
    • Commission new or modified hydraulic and lubrication systems, by making the final connection to the plant according to production and engineering requirements and standards.
    • Ensure hydraulic / lubrication systems comply with ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 system requirements.
    • Creates or updates drawings recommend maintenance plans and procedures after investigations have been completed
    • Collaborates with others e.g contractors, vendors etc for implementing and maintaining services
    • Participate in MDT team and completes technical investigations regarding maintenance problems to close out failures on all Hydraulic / Lubrications related failures.
    • Complete standby duties as required
    • Utilise all Sappi systems in the execution of the maintenance strategy and realization of the objectives( SAP)

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • Relevant NQF level 6 qualification (National Diploma Mechanical Engineering or related field) whilst a BTech in Mechanical Engineering would be preferable coupled with a recognised trade test certificate
    • 5 years relevant experience within a heavy industry environment
