    Hydraulics Engineer (Port Elizabeth)

    Job Description

    As Hydraulic Engineer you will be joining our Port Elizabeth team responsible for hydraulic design and technical documentation on various equipment for new and existing markets. Our customers are oil and rig companies, rig operators and renewable-energy industry.  We have a broadly composed professional environment with heavy expertise in the following disciplines: Mechanical, hydraulics, pipe design & layout, automation, electrical / instrumentation as well as structure calculation. 

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design and calculation of hydraulic systems and components in accordance with international standards and regulations related to the marine and offshore industry (ISO, DNV, ABS, PED) 
    • Prepare Hydraulics Flow Diagram, bills of material, technical documentation, and test procedures and engineering reports
    • Participate in development projects. Influence the new products and system solutions of the future 
    • Contribute to standardization of hydraulic system / components and conduct improved quality, environment, and safety
    • Comply with and perform NOV Quality Management System processes and procedures 
    • The positions also include versatile and varied engineering work, a close cooperation with other departments and disciplines within NOV in addition to suppliers and customer.
    • Some travel activities will be expected

    SKILLS, TRAINING, OR SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE:

    • We are looking for engineers with a Master's or Bachelor's education (Mechanical/Mechatronics) or other equivalent and relevant experience
    • Solid understanding of advanced hydraulic theory and the ability to apply knowledge in the design of complex hydraulic circuits in an OEM environment (Essential)
    • Working knowledge of pneumatic components and systems (Essential)
    • Hydraulic experience theoretical and practical with land and offshore drill floor and auxiliary equipment strongly preferred (Desirable)
    • You should have in-depth knowledge of hydraulic components and suppliers in the market (Essential)
    • Knowledge of regulations related to the marine, land - offshore industry, ISO, DNV, ABS, PED, SAE, and ANSI fluid power related standards (Desirable)
    • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD and computer skills (Essential)
    • Ability to effectively communicate technical principles and equipment operation to other stakeholders.
