    Software Project Engineer (Port Elizabeth)

    The position requires to work closely with our technical disciplines and have contact with both customer and suppliers. Some travel can occur, both on- and offshore. 

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Update NOV control systems with new functionality

    Qualifications

    Mechatronics Project Engineer (Port Elizabeth)

    Job Description

    As a Mechatronics Project Engineer for Rig Technologies this is an opportunity to use and grow your professional experience in automated control systems and hazardous area equipment, contributing to the aftermarket design solutions on Oil & Gas drilling equipment.

    Your competence with electrical design, software programming and hazardous area equipment selection and implementation. With guidance of the Lead Electrical Design Engineer and Engineering Manager your duties will include taking responsibility for the technical integrity of assigned Engineering projects and the quality and effectiveness of electrical design engineering support. This will include taking ownership of design solutions across multiple projects and supporting the Field Engineering team.

    You will undertake Engineering design activities including: selection of control and instrumentation hardware, checking and approving drawings, also preparing and checking design calculations. In this role you will apply sound engineering principles to develop creative and robust solutions to a variety of challenges. You will provide supervisory guidance to drafting personnel and other project personnel.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design solutions in accordance with applicable legislative and drilling equipment standards
    • Produce and review electrical drawings, Assemblies, Schematics & Indexes
    • Produce and review technical documentation, Reports, Procedures & Manuals
    • Produce and review controls system software, PLC code, HMI screens, VFD parameters
    • Produce and review electrical calculations, I.S. verification, Volt drop, Cable sizing
    • Ensure that internal checking and approvals procedures are adhered to
    • Ensure that document numbering and revision control procedure is conformed to
    • Process project design & control documentation according to QA processes and on a timely basis,
    • Quote, CPA, Documentation register, Design Review, After Action Review
    • Communicate effectively with both clients and all levels of organisation
    • Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager
    • Travel where required, including offshore rig visits

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A degree in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering (Light Current) discipline (Essential)

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience in design of control systems (Essential)
    • Experience in Software Programming (Essential)
    • Experience with selection and application of equipment used hazardous areas (Desirable)
    • Experience with oil field equipment, ideally NOV drilling products (Desirable)

    SKILLS, TRAINING, OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE:

    • Good understating of and the ability to design electrical assemblies, schematics & technical documentation associated with control systems. This specifically relates to control systems of automated equipment and familiarity with control over hydraulic/pneumatic systems and variable speed drives (Essential)
    • Understanding of engineering documents and drawings (e.g. be able to read P&IDs, ISO drawings, calculation reports etc. and be able to extract useful information for design)
    • Skilled at software programming of industrial control systems (Essential)
    • Have knowledge and understanding of ISO quality system

    Service Supervisor - Pressure Control Equipment (Port Elizabeth)

    Job Description

    As a Service Supervisor within NOV’s Rig Aftermarket (RA) Team, you will manage and schedule customer equipment servicing requirements. Under the general supervision of the Service Manager, the Service Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision, training and development of the Field Service Technicians, ensuring that employee performance and skills align with QA, HSE and company policies while fulfilling our customer requirements. You will supervise through planning, leading, organising and controlling the activities of the service departments employees. As Service Supervisor you will coordinate and liaise with internal and external customers and suppliers while focusing on the delivery of the company and service department’s business targets.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ability to remotely supervise multiple personnel and projects efficiently and effectively.
    • Occasional travel globally as and when required.
    • Provide technical analysis to ascertain timelines and resource requirements for customer quotation purposes.
    • Utilise latest planning systems, and applications.
    • Assign projects and tasks to appropriately levelled technical personnel based on discipline, competency, and experience.
    • Communicate effectively with clients on project status both technically and commercially.
    • Review and approval of technical and financial reporting.
    • Provide feedback on products and system performance to stakeholders based on technical analysis. 
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure project are completed on time, in budget and safely.
    • Continual review and assessment of direct reports to ensure development goals are achieved.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  

    • Bachelor’s degree in related Technical, Commercial field or equivalent experience.

    EXPERIENCE: 

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical capacity within an Offshore, automated, or industrial environment with an additional minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role with customer relationship management and employee development experience. Total minimum experience 8 years.
    • Good technical knowledge relating to mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, maintenance, and repair activities of heavy machinery in an offshore or FMCG environment.

    SKILLS, TRAINING, OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE:

    • Good knowledge of NOV Pressure control equipment.
    • Ability to interpret engineering drawings/schematics.

    SKILLS, TRAINING, OR SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE:
