What will you do
A position for an Information Analyst exists in the Corporate Services, Group Finance area within the Business Enablement team, based at Santam Bellville (Cape Town) offices.
This role will be responsible for supporting the Information Manager across Corporate Services business units in operationalising, troubleshooting and improving data governance processes, and recommend & support the implementation of data and information enhancement initiatives.
We are looking for an individual with experience in translating information strategy and policies & standards into processes, including creating the artefacts & mechanisms to enable process operationalisation.
They will assist in the development of data related solutions to improve the BU data quality and financial/operational performance. This includes analysing business processes & determining how they can be improved or better supported by data and defining specifications of required reports and dashboards to monitor data quality.
The person fulfilling this role will also define/develop new reports for regulatory and financial reporting and will be responsible for identifying and maintaining data lineage and the data catalogue.
This role takes a business insights approach and works with decision makers and external service providers to continually engage in business development, management and analysis.
What will make you successful in this role?
Translate the IM strategy and SIMA/Board approved data policies & standards into data governance processes and develop/support the development of supporting process artefacts & mechanisms
Performing impact assessment of policies and standards on Business Units
Define specifications for additional requirements and architectures to support data governance
Assist Corporate Services business units in the development of data related solutions to improve their data quality and financial/operational performance.
Support Corporate Services business units in the identification of BU- and initiative specific data subject areas, data journeys, Data Owners and Data Stewards
Stay current on industry practices and trends in the short-term insurance and digital environments and contribute innovative ideas and design of long-term, sustainable information related solutions
Participate in quality assurance, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as well as demos and training of new IM related solutions
Drive data literacy initiatives, providing training and measuring the effectiveness
Define/develop new reports for regulatory and financial reporting
Identify and maintain data lineage and data catalogue
Source appropriate data, applies suitable analytical methods, run complex reports, interprets the resulting information and then constructs ‘a rich picture’ in the analysis.
Go beyond the status quo to identify gaps in information in order to ascertain completeness of the current data or information set.
Devise ways to enrich and augment data to fill gaps and support decision making.
Translate data into a visual format for reasonable interpretation for key decision makers. Always looking at how to best tailor the information to the viewer, utilising various types of data representation.
Qualifications
Relevant Tertiary qualification or certificate/diploma in business/data analysis from an industry-recognised training institution
Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma would be highly recommended
Knowledge and Experience
Minimum requirement of:
5 years relevant experience as a Business Analyst
3 to 5 years relevant experience in Data Analysis and/or financial analysis in a complex business environment.
2 years relevant experience in Business Process Management
3 years MS SQL knowledge and experience
Experience in a short-term insurance environment would be advantageous
