• We are looking to recruit a permanent Internal Auditor - Operations to work within the Internal Audit department. The role will be based at Regional Office in Durban

Job description

Job Purpose:

• The main purpose of the job is to independently evaluate and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal controls in the retail outlets.

Job Objectives:

• Assessing compliance with policies, standards and procedures and reports accurately.
• Perform analytical reviews of operational and financial information to identify trends and risk areas.
• Responsible for performing continuous audits on high risk transactions performed at the stores and to report on exceptions and/or non-compliance.
• Preparing audit findings and developing recommendations.
• Provide management with best practises to improve their business and/or processes to be more efficient and effective.
• To make recommendations on the systems and procedures being reviewed* report on the findings and recommendations and monitor management's response and implementation.
• To conduct any reviews or investigations as requested by management.
• Stay abreast of any changes to policies, standards and procedures.
• Maintain good client relationships and interact with senior management.

Minimum requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years retail or supply chain experience, part of which must be at a management level
• Matric/Grade 12 (essential) 
• Aspiration towards completing a 3 year degree/diptoma in auditing, commerce or accounting

Skills, Abilities and Job Related Knowledge:

• Understanding and appreciation for the concept of risk and audit methodologies   
• Fully computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Ability to interact with client staff and senior management across various functions and divisions within the company
• Working in a team environment with a participative style and betieves and participates in the development of people
• An ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports
• Good spoken and written English* demonstrated in a good report writing ability
• Good grasp of computerised data analysis and auditing work paper and record keeping systems
• Future aspirations to move in retail operations
