ISOP Rail Operations Coordinator at Anglo American

Job Description:

The purpose of the Marketing BU is to sustainably maximise cash flows from the marketing of Anglo American products and services. In support of this, we have set ourselves a target to deliver a considerable uplift in in Value by 2023.

PURPOSE

Ensure maximum utilization of rail capacity and compliance to Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) between Transnet and Kumba Iron Ore, optimising the 2 weekly rail plan and ensuring shipping commitments are met timeously. 
TYPICAL TASKS

Leadership 

• Effectively manage and support the personal and professional development of direct reports and ensure team achievement of agreed business targets. 
• Initiate working relationships beyond immediate team, fostering cross-commodity collaboration and synergies for the Marketing BU.
• Lead by example to embed the Marketing behaviours as the way the Marketing BU works together.

Operational Planning

• Compile Rail Volume Plans (yearly and rolling quarterly) 
• Manage ore losses against plans 
• Manage mass determination 
• Optimise rail capacity utilization e.g. mine-port logistics and capacity opportunities with Assmang 
• Oversee the RSR requirements for the NC mines.

Scheduling 

• Compile 2 weekly schedule for train loading schedule for Kolomela and Sishen.

Transnet Relationship Management

• Attend operational interface meeting with Transnet – advisory/selling authority
• Manage communication of Transnet's & Kumba’s operational plans and outages 
• Compile SLA, KPI'S reports 
• Ensure reliability of infrastructure through managing infrastructure SLA between Transnet and SIOC – selling authority
• Ensure efficient interface between Kumba and Transnet 

Reporting 

• Report on interface operations between SIOC and TFR. to logistic value chain – advisory authority.

Continuous Process Improvement 

• Continuous review of processes to identify opportunities that will help maximize value.

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Logistics / Equivalent Experience in Logistics

KNOWLEDGE

• Experience in international sales operations or international logistics environment (desirable)
• Proven track record of working independently with minimum supervision
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
• Strong numerical, analytical skills and attention to detail
• Good experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) 
• Good track record of good safety management in an operational environment.
