Infrastructure

•  Design server and network architecture for new projects.
•  Improve and optimise server and network architecture for existing projects.
•  Implement server and network architecture.
•  Ensure implemented architecture is reproducible for disaster recovery purposes and easy replication for white labeling purposes.
•  Ensure architecture description (Terraform) remains up to date through application evolution stages.
•  Ensure architecture is consistent between all software environments (Stage, QA, RC, Production) for guaranteed quality assurance.
•  Manage domain related configuration (DNS) for all company domains.
•  Configure server operating system in a reproducible manner to guarantee service quality.  Maintain OS configuration in Ansible through application evolution stages to ensure reproducibility for disaster recovery and easy replication.
•  Ensure servers and databases are updated frequently with security fixes.
•  Ensure servers and databases are updated with new OS versions when needed.
•  Ensure databases are backed up and ready for disaster recovery.
•  Continuous evaluation of systems to improve developer productivity.
•  Assist developers whenever they need help with infrastructure or productivity issues.
•  Investigate and develop productivity enhancement systems as they are identified or when requested by developers.
•  Develop efficient application deployment processes, assist with new requirements or broken processes.
•  Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines.

 Support developers with CI/CD issues.

•  Design and implement GitFlow processes suitable for each software type (mobile, backend, frontend).
•  Assist developers with projects requiring changes that touches infrastructure, e.g. updating tech stacks, testing new tech stacks, deploying OS changes.
•  Assist developers with performance issues: tracking them down and implementing solutions.
•  Implement continuous monitoring systems to detect and fix issues before they become problems.
•  Ensure all developers have access to relevant monitoring results for their projects.

 Monitor and respond to security breaches.

•  Manage developer access to infrastructure via a jump host and SSH.
•  Assist BU heads with architecture design for new proposals and projects.
•  Assist BU heads with costing for new proposals and projects.
•  Assist with the development and maintenance of the business continuity plan.
•  lopment and maintenance of the disaster recovery plan.
•  POPI/GDPR technical research and advice for developers. Admin
•  Administer all subscription services (AWS, Godaddy, Github, Slack, etc).
•  Handle billing tasks for all services (credit card updates, obtain invoices, ensure payments are made, provide budget information).
•  Open and close user accounts on subscription services for new and departing staff.
•  Cost optimisation for subscription services.
•  Interface with IPT for Office 365 maintenance.
•  POPI Information Officer

The technical capabilities required include knowledge about:

•  Internet networking principles in general
•  TCP/IP
•  Routing
•  DNS
•  Network security
•  Server security
•  VPNs
•  Networking components such as load balancers, routers, routing tables, firewalls
•  Strong unix-like knowledge (unix, linux, BSD, etc)
•  Databases  Strong programming background
•  Software stack required to make a web app work
•  Various types of monitoring required
•  Various toolchains used, ie LAMP stack, Docker, possibly kubernetes.
