    IT Supporter, Business Intelligence

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    The BI Support Specialist is part of the Africa Regional BI Team, responsible for the operational support of the Africa BI Solutions and ensure timely deliveries and stable operations for our critical business intelligence solutions.

     

    Tertiary Qualification(s)

    • Matric, with some post matric IT related certification.

    • University Degree/College Diploma in the field of computer science or Business Intelligence will be huge advantage

     

    Computer Skills Required:

    • Basic SQL knowledge

    • Basic Power BI knowledge

    • Basic Azure Cloud knowledge

    • Knowledge of Windows operating system

    • MS Office Tools (Excel, Word, Visio)

     

    Job-related Requirements

    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an IT Operational/Support role.

    • Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance on various BI related systems

     

    Electives

    • MS BI Suite (SSRS, Power BI) - MS SQL DBA knowledge

    • Experience working in the MS AZURE Cloud environment

    • AZURE DevOps Experience - Good written and oral communication, with the ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.

    • Well organized, with a disposition to be accurate and pay attention to detail.

    • Self-motivated, with the urge to understand how underlying systems work and fit together.

    • Ability to work under pressure without constant supervision.

    • Analytical and problem solving skills with the ability for systematic and rational analysis to identify the root cause of problems

    • People skills: able to work within an international environment, serviceminded and team-oriented

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support BI Users using the BI Platform

    • Monitor daily load processes - Incident analysis, communication, and resolution

    • Transfer knowledge actively to the other team members as well as the Operations & Support team

    • Participate as a member of the wider Global BI Operations and Support Team

    • Perform monthly after-hours systems checks after security patching, as well periodic early morning loads tests (as per Operation team schedule)
