Junior Datacentre Engineer at BitCo

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintaining BitCo core cabinets, client cabinets, and infrastructure in all data centers where BitCo has presence.
• Managing all hardware and cross-connect installations and deinstallations.
• Auditing and documenting all the hardware in BitCo cabinets, including cross connects and their intended uses.
• To balance the architectural concerns of datacentre projects with the concerns of BitCo.
• To provide guidance to the projects/operations departments during the proposed solution’s life cycle.
• To assist clients when work is being carried out in the BitCo client cabinets.
• To document all Teraco cabinet layouts and to ensure that when work is to be carried out in the said cabinets, BitCo standards are adhered to.
• To provision all BitCo SIM cards and to ensure that the APN bandwidth consumption does not reach more than 80% utilization.
• To update Netbox with all Data Centre and DFA node layouts.
• To manage all additions, removals and changes on BitCo’s NMS software to ensure the data contained therein is correct and legitimate.
• To maintain the dashboards, visual maps, automated reporting, thresholds, alerting, and to align these to the needs of every BitCo business unit.
• To assist with change control requests as and when required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience                 

• N+ certification
• CCNA will be preferred
• 1-2 years’ experience working in a networking environment   
• Visio
• Must proficient in Microsoft Office

Knowledge, Soft Skills & Abilities Required

• Exceptional networking knowledge.
• The ability to create clear and accurate network diagrams in Microsoft Visio.
• Advanced Computer Literacy
• Professional and well-spoken
• Excellent organizational skills
• Attention to detail
• Must be able to work in a pressurized environment
