Job Description

• Our client is looking for a Junior Infrastructure Support/ Helpdesk Engineer to join their technical team and gain valuable hands-on experience across networking, security, systems and voice infrastructure.This role is to be based on-site, this is a "shift work" role but if you are working the night shift you will be able to work remotely from home
• This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded IT professional who enjoys troubleshooting, working with customers and developing their infrastructure engineering skills within a supportive technical environment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-line and operational support for network, security, systems and voice infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and resolve IT incidents and service requests using appropriate tools and processes
• Assist customers and internal teams with technical issues and problem resolution
• Monitor infrastructure services and manage support tickets through to resolution
• Escalate more complex technical issues when required
• Liaise with vendors to assist with resolving network, security, systems and voice-related faults
• Assist with the configuration and maintenance of network, security and voice equipment
• Support system maintenance, upgrades and infrastructure changes
• Assist with equipment installations and provisioning of new services
• Work alongside experienced engineers on customer and infrastructure projects
• Follow established change management, configuration and security procedures
• Assist with monitoring infrastructure performance, availability and capacity
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and procedures
• Assist with customer implementations and service handovers, including occasional site visits
• Participate in a 7-day support schedule and shift rotation
• Build positive relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

• 2+ years' hands-on experience in an IT environment
• Basic understanding of networking concepts
• Some practical experience with network, systems, security or voice infrastructure
• Exposure to Cisco networking technologies
• Knowledge of physical network infrastructure
• Experience in a customer-facing IT support role
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A willingness to learn and develop within the infrastructure engineering space

Advantageous

• Exposure to voice configurations
• Exposure to firewall configurations
• Basic Linux systems administration experience
• Relevant IT certification(s)
