    Junior Lecturer: Performing Arts

    • One (1) vacancy exists for a suitably qualified, experienced individual in the above-stated Department. The individual will form part of a dynamic team of academics, responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and community engagement in the Department. The Department is within the School of Languages and Communication Studies, Faculty of Humanities. 

    Requirements:

    • Honours degree in Performing and Dramatic Arts 
    • Minimum of two years teaching experience in tertiary institution will be an added advantage. 
    • Ability to develop innovative and inclusive approach to the teaching of Performing Arts. 
    • Broad-based community engagement expertise in Theatre Arts. 
    • Demonstration of the ability to prepare students for life beyond school. 
    • Knowledge of functional, adaptive, and social skills are an additional necessity 
    • Good understanding of decision-making, problem solving skills as well as creative/ critical thinking. 
    • Demonstration of good communication, interpersonal skills, self-awareness and empathy; resilience and equanimity. 
    • Potential to initiate research (projects) and contribute to joint research projects. 
    • Good understanding of collaborative, ethical, innovative and effective leadership and commitment to higher education standards. 
    • Understanding the challenges facing the Higher Education sector. 

    Competencies:

    • The applicant should be able to work as part of a team, and take initiatives in research projects and contribute to the development of programmes offered in the Department. Flexibility and good work ethics are high on the list priorities for this position. 

    Duties:

    • Teach and assess at all undergraduate levels and administer large groups of students.
    • Conduct research projects and publish. 
    • Participate in conference presentations
